What to expect at your first appointment.
When you arrive, there are a few forms to fill out (about 5 minutes worth). You will also be expected to provide your insurance information and a method of payment for your session or co-pays.
The first appointment will be officially 52 minutes in length. You can expect to be finished within 1 hour or your scheduled time. After the paperwork is complete, you will have the opportunity to tell your story, indicate the direction you want to go, and let me know any circumstances that are important in your life. I may ask you questions for further information or to gain insight into your story. You will decide what you feel comfortable sharing and can choose not to answer any questions I may ask.
The majority of my clients meet with me weekly. But each individual can decide the frequency that is best for them. Frequency of meetings can vary across the course of therapy.
Ultimately you will decide when you are ready for therapy to end. We will keep an open dialogue about your therapy goals and if it seems our work is coming to a natural close. This might be because you have reached your goals, are feeling better, or because other circumstances have changed for you. If you find that my therapy style does not fit your needs and/or goals, I am happy to discuss this with you and provide referrals to other therapists who may better suit your needs.
